A bit about the Berkeley Reparations Coalition:
The Berkeley Reparations Coalition is a community coalition of political, civic, and faith leaders that formed after the M**der of George Floyd to advance reparations for students in BUSD who are descendants of enslaved Americans. At the Coalition's request, BUSD established a formal Reparations Task Force — made up of students, parents, staff, and community members — which recommended a historical study documenting BUSD's role in perpetuating inequity, new curriculum on the legacy of chattel slavery, and educational opportunity grants for Descendant students. The Coalition advocates for full implementation of all three recommendations.
