A Community Conversation on Data Centers

The evening will begin with a panel discussion focusing on the benefits and impacts of data centers, with a focus on energy, water, quality of life, and economic development.

After the panel discussion, City of Chicago staff will lead breakout conversations focusing on various aspects of data centers (zoning, economic development, etc.) and gather specific feedback, which will help shape the City’s upcoming report on data centers.

This event will focus on citywide data center policy, rather than specific projects or proposals.

Info: City of Chicago staff will welcome attendees, review the evening's agenda, provide an overview of the City's ongoing policy development process, and give a brief presentation covering the current state of data centers in Chicago.

Info: Panelists representing a range of data center topics, including energy, air quality, water, economic developments, and community benefits will discuss challenges, opportunities, and possible next steps for data centers in Chicago. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions.

Info: Topical posters will be distributed throughout the room. Attendees will be asked to share their questions, concerns, and ideas on the posters. City staff will also be available for informal conversations about each topic. Conversation topics include zoning, energy and affordability, economic development and community benefits, and noise, air pollution, and water.
