Last time, Cardiff for Europe had a cultural celebraiton of Denmark, with a fantastic turnout! Their second event will be a celebration of Malta!
Join us at McSims - The Maltese Cafe in Cardiff - for an evening celebrating all things Maltese! With, tasty treats, and a chance to soak up some Maltese culture.
A Talk on the Rich Culture and History of Malta
Meet Josephine Grech, a lecturer in Biology and Chemistry at Cardiff and Vale College with a specialism in Forensic Science. Josephine is Maltese born and will give a talk about the amazing history and culture of this great country.
A taste of Malta will be available with samples of savouries and pastries. Coffee, tea and other beverages can be purchased.
Also try Malta's national drink Bajtra (non-alcoholic option of Malta’s famous Kinnie drink also available)! The evening will end with a toast to the people of Malta and to peace and respect forever between countries.

Malta is an Archipelago, not just one island. Instead, it is an archipelago made up of 7 small islands. There is evidence that people have lived in Malta since the Neolithic (5000 BC) with 11 the megalithic temples of Malta considered to be one of the oldest free-standing structures on earth. There are two Official Languages, Malti is the original language of Malta. English had only been one of the national languages since the occupation of Malta by Great Britain in the 18th century. 160,000 people from Malta live in Australia (that’s more than a third of Malta's islands population). Many popular singers seem to be of Maltese descent, some of which are: Tash Sultana, Bryan Adams, Natalie Imbruglia and Britney Spears. And Welsh rugby star Lewis Rees-Zammit’s family background is Maltese.
