Boreal Gardens are playing again!
It's been seven years since Venturia came out and just as long since anybody around here has seen them onstage. Seven of them, horns included, playing folk and rock and soul and Americana all at once. "Elvis Costello meets the Rolling Stones" is how they've described it. They started jamming in the summer of 2013, put out a self-titled record in 2016, drove out to a country church outside Ashley and cut Venturia over four days, released it in 2019, and then stopped. As they'd tell you themselves: it's cold up here, but things still grow.
Thanksgiving Eve is the one night everybody's back in Bismarck. The people who left, the people who stayed, all of them out at the same time and none of them working Thursday. So we're putting the band back onstage at the Eclipse, with two more of this town's best on the bill.
Anonymous Phenomenon work differently from most bands, in that most nights they aren't the same band. Nolyn Falcon and Dave Martel have run the project for years on a simple premise, which is that you book the show first and figure out the lineup later. Dozens of Bismarck-Mandan players have come through it. Depending on the night you get soul, R&B, funk, jazz or reggae, and anywhere from four people onstage to twelve.

Avantide are a four-piece alternative/indie band from Bismarck. They came together in 2022, a handful of down-to-earth music fans who met in a record store and found they had the same wide-ranging taste: the Black Keys, Pavement, Spoon, and a lot more besides. What they make of it is catchy melodies, lyrics you remember, and tight playing with enough dynamic range to keep you leaning in.

The Eclipse stage will be dressed to feel like a warm, cozy home, and there will be collaborations with Bismarck musicians all night!
