In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month 🌎, Chatham County Commissioner Franklin Gomez Flores joins us to share his story and his vision for Chatham County's future. Franklin was born in Guatemala and raised in Chatham County, where his family settled in Siler City in 1999. He graduated from Jordan Matthews High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in biology from UNC-Chapel Hill. He was elected at age 26 as the first Latino to serve on the county's Board of Commissioners, representing District 5.
The board appointed him Vice Chair in December 2025. His priorities include quality education, more jobs, affordable housing, and responsible county growth.
