You will make a set of 4-6 small coffee cups or tea bowls, a small milk jug and a sugar bowl.This will involve a variety of hand-building techniques and an introduction to throwing on the wheel, and will take inspiration from the Georgian chocolate and coffee mugs in the Museum display – as well as from other historic and contemporary ceramics from around the world.
The course is fairly flexible, so that for those who are returning students, having been on previous courses, they will be able to discuss their own projects with the tutor to build upon previous skills and experience (please contact the tutor through the Museum to discuss your ideas, prior to confirming your place on the course).
Please note that we will only be working in stoneware clays and glazes, and with a small amount of porcelain to experiment with.
