About this Event
Welcome to the 5th Annual Upscale Pub Crawl Fundraiser! The Foundation’s 5th Annual Upscale Pub Crawl, celebrating Banned Books Week, is on October 7, 2026. The theme, as announced by the American Library Association (ALA) and the Banned Books Week Coalition, is: “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read”. According to the ALA report released in April 2026, 2025 saw the second highest number of unique titles challenged ever, with 4,235 unique titles targeted.
Starting at the Library, stroll through downtown Redwood City with fellow RCLF supporters and enjoy libations more than a dozen establishments. Each pub will feature a banned book and information about censorship, and an RCLF volunteer to answer questions and celebrate with you and your group. Your ticket will entitle you to discounted drinks and small bites.
Please drink responsibly and taste on a full stomach. We open check-in one hour before the event so you can grab a bite at one of our great restaurants before heading out. Plan for a safe ride home.
Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Join us to fight attempts to censor books in schools and libraries, to support downtown merchants, and to back the Library.
Buy your tickets before Sept. 11 to be first in line for this year's t-shirt! Follow us on Instagram @rwclibraryfoundation or on Facebook to learn more about us and for event updates!
