This 6-week advanced series is a tactical exploration of partner dynamics, designed for dancers who want to move as a single kinetic entity.
The Philosophy: A Non-Verbal Conversation
We teach that lead-and-follow dynamics mirror healthy relationship communication. We don’t "push" or "force"; we propose and respond. This course focuses on developing an intuitive attunement—Structural Telepathy—where the follow is an active listener and the lead is a clear physical suggestion.
The Substance: Mastering the Aesthetic
Refine the smooth, grounded glide that defines a seasoned Shag dancer. We will drill:
- The removal of "swing bounce" for a level, disciplined upper body.
- The geometry of equal-and-opposite tension.
- Fluid precision within the slot.
The Curriculum: Managing the Cognitive Load
Advanced sequences require significant mental energy. To ensure these movements move from your conscious mind to your procedural memory, we utilize a "2-on, 1-off" structure:
- Two weeks of complex new material.
- One dedicated week of review and consolidation.
The Ultimate Goal: The Flow State
By offloading the mechanics to your muscle memory, you free your mind to connect with the music and your partner. We aim for complete immersion—where self-consciousness vanishes and the wordless conversation of the dance becomes effortless.
