Hello! Welcome Fall! This month here at the gallery, we welcome a Abigail Pelesko.
Abigail is an American oil painter, born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She studied studio art for four years before pursuing a bachelor's degree in Art Conservation and Art History at the University of Delaware. Her work focuses on land, what inhabits it, and the interaction with nature that precedes a work of art.
Her works have been shown at juried shows and exhibitions throughout the country.
“I make documentary landscape and wildlife oil paintings, derived from my experience with land, observation, and being part of the natural world. I typically paint landscapes native to the United States, particularly the Mid-Atlantic where I am based out of, with an emphasis on the micro-ecosystems and the pockets of wilderness that exist in this heavily developed region.
These paintings reference real locations and their flora and fauna, that I've sought out, sketched, photographed, and spent time amongst. I call my work documentary as I try my best to be faithful to the real landscape, and avoid moving or removing elements to craft a more ideal composition. There was a time that I felt that landscape work had all been said and done, yet the more I work with it the more I realize how many stones are still unturned. I hope when you see my depictions of the American persimmon, the eastern white pine, the egret, and the swallows, they evoke something familiar and grounding - something to encourage you to seek out your own relationship with the real world surrounding us.”
I look forward to seeing the beautiful art, so
please join us for light refreshments and meet Abigail ! It will be a wonderful evening!
