About this Event
Join us for a seminar exploring the intellectual legacy of the University of Mexico over its 475-year history, focusing on the development of a humanist tradition that has critically engaged with colonialism and championed the recognition of indigenous cultures.
From early debates on the legitimacy of the Spanish empire to contemporary indigenous movements, this session traces key moments in the evolution of Mexican humanism and its role in shaping political and cultural thought.
Delivered by Ambrosio Velasco Gómez (Instituto de Investigaciones Filosóficas, UNAM), this talk offers a rich perspective on the historical foundations and ongoing relevance of multiculturalism, justice, and critical thought in Mexico.
This session will be delivered in Spanish.
