40 STORIES FOR 40 WEEKS
A Free Online Sunday Evening Storytelling Experience with Gerald Crawford
Every Sunday Evening | 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM | Online via Google Meet | 40 Weeks | FREE
COME. LISTEN. REFLECT. TALK. DISCOVER.
There is something extraordinary about a story.
A story may take only a few minutes to tell, yet its message can stay with us for years.
It can make us laugh, touch a memory, challenge the way we think, help us understand another person, or quietly reveal something about ourselves that we had not seen before.
Starting Sunday, 4 October 2026, Gerald Crawford invites you to join him online every Sunday evening at 7:00 PM for a special 40-week journey through 40 powerful stories.
And the best part?
IT'S FREE.
There is no cost to attend.
Simply register, join the Google Meet session and give yourself an hour to listen, reflect and participate.
This is more than a story reading.
It is a shared experience.
THE STORY
Each Sunday evening, Gerald will read one of the 40 Stories for 40 Days.
The stories take us through four journeys:
DISCOVERING YOURSELF
Understanding ourselves, our experiences, our choices, our emotions and the person we are becoming.
DISCOVERING OTHERS
Exploring relationships, connection, kindness, understanding, compassion and the people who share our lives.
DISCOVERING LIFE
Looking at our experiences, challenges, choices and circumstances from a different perspective.
DISCOVERING MEANING
Exploring purpose, courage, love, compassion, wisdom and the meaning we create from our experiences.
THEN WE TALK ABOUT THE STORY
The reading is only the beginning.
After each story, we will open the conversation.
What did you hear?
What did you understand?
What did the story make you feel?
What did you notice about the characters?
What was real?
What was imagined?
What was the message?
And perhaps most importantly:
What does this story have to do with your life?
You will have the opportunity to participate in an open conversation about the story and explore the different ways people experience and interpret the same story.
There is no requirement to have the "right" answer.
Your interpretation may be completely different from someone else's.
That is part of the beauty of storytelling.
QUESTIONS WE MAY EXPLORE
After each reading, we may explore questions such as:
ABOUT THE STORY
- What stood out for you in the story?
- What do you think the story was really about?
- What was the central message?
- Was there anything that surprised you?
- What part of the story stayed with you?
ABOUT THE CHARACTERS
- What did you notice about the main character?
- What motivated the character's choices?
- Did the character change during the story?
- What caused that change?
- Did you identify with any of the characters?
- Was there a character you understood differently from the beginning to the end?
ABOUT WHAT WAS REAL
- What part of the story felt realistic to you?
- What part felt symbolic or imagined?
- What truth might exist underneath the story?
- Is it possible for something fictional to reveal something real about our lives?
ABOUT OURSELVES
- What did this story make you think about in your own life?
- Can you relate to the experience of the character?
- Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation?
- Has someone in your life behaved like one of the characters?
- What would you have done differently?
- What would you like to change in your own life after hearing this story?
ABOUT THE MESSAGE
- What do you think the story is asking us to consider?
- What did you learn?
- What question does the story leave you with?
- Is there another way of looking at the situation?
- What possibility does this story open up for you?
And sometimes the most powerful question may simply be:
"What did this story say to you?"
ONE STORY. ONE CONVERSATION. ONE POSSIBILITY.
The intention isn't to tell you what the story means.
It is to discover what it means to you.
Every person brings their own experiences, memories, beliefs and perspectives to a story.
That means the same story can speak differently to twenty different people.
One person may hear a story about forgiveness.
Another may hear a story about courage.
Another may recognise themselves in the character.
Someone else may simply remember a person they once knew.
There is no need to force an answer.
We listen.
We reflect.
We talk.
We discover.
THE POWER OF A STORY
Each story follows a simple journey:
THE STORY
What happened?
THE REALISATION
What does the story really mean?
THE POWER
What does this mean for me?
And from there, we look for:
One truth.
One question.
One possibility.
One action.
Because sometimes a story doesn't change the circumstances of our lives.
Sometimes it changes the way we see them.
And sometimes changing the way we see something changes what happens next.

40 STORIES. 40 WEEKS. ONE JOURNEY.
Come for the story.
Stay for the conversation.
Leave with something to think about.

Every story has something to teach us.
And sometimes, all we need is someone to tell us a story that helps us see our own differently.
