In this beginner course, the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel and creating pieces from start to finish will be covered. All clay, glazes, tools, and firing fees are included in the cost of the class. No experience is needed as this class will begin with an explanation of the ceramic process and move through throwing, trimming, and glazing. The goal of this course is to give students a foundation of skills to build on and the confidence to do so with or without continued direct instruction.
Class can be repeated to hone basic skills before moving on to Level 2.
One free Open Studio session during the month of the class is included so that students can practice or complete extra work on their projects. Once this four week course is completed, students are eligible to work in T+N’s studio independently during future open studio hours.
This series requires advance registration. All classes must be attended, and missed classes cannot be made up.

🏺ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
Ang Van Den Eeden began working with clay more than ten years ago in San Francisco and recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BFA in Ceramics and Sculpture. They make tidy functional work using the pottery wheel, and sometimes dabble in glaze-wizardry—creating handbuilt forms that flaunt a glaze's ability to shine, puff, or gloop. From one-night classes to multi-week workshops, Ang has taught beginners of all ages the basics of wheel throwing since 2023. In addition to teaching, Ang is on staff as Tooth & Nail's Member Coordinator.
