In this four week course, students will learn the basics of hand-building with clay. Techniques such as slab building, pinching, coiling, and carving will be introduced. We will also learn how to use studio equipment such as the slab roller and extruder. With these techniques it is possible to build anything from vessels to sculptures and beyond. All clay, glazes, tools, and firing fees are included in the cost of the class.
One free Open Studio session during the month of the class is included so that students can practice or complete extra work on their project.
Once this four week course is completed, students are eligible to work in T+N’s studio independently during future Open Studio hours.
This series requires advance registration. All classes must be attended, and missed classes cannot be made up. No prior experience is required.
