Ghouls and Girlies Discussion of “He Had it Coming!” Stories of Vigilante Justice

Join us in a group discussion themed “He had it coming!” We will discuss three historical cases. We will hit on moral themes. Listed below are resource options to peruse—podcasts, articles to read, and You Tube options. You may also, instead, research your own story of this theme and tell us about your research.

1). Ken McElroy 1981 Skidmore, MO – McElroy was indicted 21 times, but escaped conviction each time, except for the last. He was convicted of assault in a non-fatal shooting upon 70-year-old grocer Ernest “Bo” Bowenkamp. While on bond pending an appeal, McElroy was shot and killed in front of a crowd of 30-46 witnesses, yet as of now, no one has come forward to say who the shooter was, and there has been no convictions.

2). Leon Gary Plauché kills Jeffrey Doucet in Baton Rouge Metropolitan Aiport in 1984 – Doucet was alleged to have kidnapped and traumatically harmed Plauché’s son. Plauché killed Doucet while he was being escorted to face trial. The event was captured on camera. Plauché was given a seven-year suspended sentence with five years’ probation and 300 hours of community service, receiving no Pr*son sentence.

3). John and Lorena Bobbitt 1993 Manassas, VA -- Let’s leave the sensationalism from the 90s and focus more seriously on Lorena’s story of yesterday and now in the present decade.
