The BMDCW is planning a Berner walk on Sandy Hook NJ followed by a lunch for Saturday, October 17 2026. Entry to the park is free and dogs must be on a 6 ft leash or shorter. We will meet in Lot D at 10:30 am to start our walk. We plan to walk toward Lot E and potentially to a scenic lookout of the bayside. We can walk on the beach and/or the multi-use paved pathway. Afterwards we will head to a dog-friendly restaurant. Mule Barn Tavern on Sandy Hook offers outdoor lunch - if this will be too chilly for the humans, we suggest the nearby popular Tommy’s Tavern in Sea Bright which offers a screened porch and heaters. Well behaved dogs are always welcome.
For those who would like to explore more of Sandy Hook: The historic Sandy Hook lighthouse and additional paths and beaches like North Beach (great views on NYC on a clear day) are further up the peninsula.
