He creates a new identity, that of a respected notable and comes to the aid of Fantine, a dying worker by promising to save his daughter, little Cosette, from the clutches of the Thenardiers, innkeepers who exploit and mistreat her. While Valjean takes care of the child and raises her as his own daughter, his past finally catches up with him in the person of Inspector Javert who did not stop chasing him during all these years. Despite the social unrest that shakes France, the destinies of Valjean, Cosette, her lover Marius and Javert intertwine in a bubbling and revolutionary Paris. Through struggles, sacrifices and a deep desire for justice, Valjean strives to complete his journey of redemption and offer Cosette a future of love and freedom.
