The North Carolina Chapter of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) will host the 24th Black History Month Genealogy Conference on February 6, 2027, at the Wyndham Garden Greensboro Hotel, 415 S. Swing Road, Greensboro, North Carolina. Participants will have the opportunity to attend a series of workshops and programs celebrating more than a quarter-century of service to the community. Each year, family historians and genealogists from California to Florida gather to seek answers and discover their family roots. The theme, "Researching Our Southern Heritage, endeavors to bring together persons from diverse backgrounds, distant geographic areas, and similar interests to continue this tradition.
Conferees will have the opportunity to meet authors and guests and exchange information and ideas, and network with attendees from around the country. The conference will consist of. A broad range of workshops and facilitators, with over 12 sessions, focusing on resources, research methods, historic events, and the ancestors who paved the way. Experienced historians and genealogists will lecture on subjects tailored to beginners, advanced learners, hobbyists, and professional researchers. Attendees may shop with vendors and exhibitors, highlighting an assortment of genealogical software, resource books, apparel, and ethnic collectibles.
AAHGS is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) membership organization committed to the preservation of history, genealogy, and the culture of diverse groups of people from local, national, and international communities. Society stresses the importance of history and genealogy by encouraging active participation in recording research and documenting personal family histories.
