Bettin' on a Cure is excited and proud to announce our 20th Annual Phillies Tailgate! This year is a big one and we are making it extra special by donating all proceeds to a very deserving and wonderful woman in the community – Sharon Shoemaker! Our 20th annual Phillies tailgate will be held on Saturday, May 4th prior to the Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Francisco Giants game with all proceeds benefitting Sharon and her family. Tailgate will start at 2:30pm with the game at 6:05pm.

Our first tailgate consisted of a small group of 20 friends and family back in 2005. We had no clue the event would get so big and so popular! Over the years, we have raised over $100,000 for the American Cancer Society!

About Sharon Shoemaker:
Sharon's world was flipped upside down when she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer in September and also diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer in October. Her cancer diagnosis is very rare, very complex and there are many moving parts to her aggressive treatment which started on November 1st. Sharon is a wife to Pete, and a mom to 4 children, ages 5, 8, 10 and 13 years old.
Since the age of 14, Sharon has been volunteering her time to help others in the community. She started as a volunteer for the Woolwich Twp Fire Department, as well as the Woolwich Police Explorers. At age 16 , she became an EMT and as a senior became part of the first graduating class at GCIT for Fire Science and Firefighting. At 18, she became a "Big Sister" and during the September 11th attack was part of a 4 man crew on standby at Ground Zero with their ambulance during search and recovery efforts.
In more recent days, she has been a coach and mentor or hundreds of local kids, coaching girls basketball, softball and volleyball, as well as boys and girls soccer. Sharon never stops supporting friends, family and perfect strangers, as well as all the kids she considers family. If your child is one of them, then you know she loves them like her own. She is known to many to be a very selfless person. She will gladly give you the shirt off her back, smile as she gives you the food off her plate, and open her door to host countless holidays, sleepovers and parties.
Sharon never asks for or expects anything in return, but now is our chance to repay her kindness. The Shoemakers are ready and raring to fight, but Sharon’s medical bills, as you might expect, are piling up quickly. With our help, she can continue to fight without worrying about mounting debt.
Sharon is an unstoppable force. With her boundless energy, she fills every waking moment making the best of life for her children and many others. Please keep her in your prayers. Pray she never loses her contagious smile and zeal for life. Let's help carry her through this storm!

Come hungry! Our tailgate will be professionally catered by the scrumptious Famous Sgt Bob Smoke BBQ and Grill of Pennsville, NJ! The delicious Filipino/Hawaiian BBQ menu will include (subject to change):

Musical entertainment will be provided by our teammate and family member DJ Eddie Bowman. Bring your dancing shoes! We will also have tailgate games, raffles and giveaways. And maybe even some special guests!
** Please note - Due to logistics and liability concerns, we will be serving alcohol on a limited basis at the tailgate; each adult attendee will receive 2 drink tickets. You are also welcome to bring your own to enjoy!

Option 1: Tailgate plus Game Ticket (Adult) Includes Game Ticket in Section 310, professionally catered tailgate, 2 drink tickets, live DJ, dancing, games, giveaways and raffles, and a donation to Sharon's family. Does not include parking. Option 1 is $75.
Option 2: Tailgate Only (Adult)
Includes professionally catered tailgate, 2 drink tickets, live DJ, dancing, games, giveaways and raffles, and a donation to Sharon's family. Does not include a game ticket or parking. Option 2 is $45.
Option 3: Tailgate plus Game Ticket (Kids under 14). Includes Game Ticket in Section 310, professionally catered tailgate, live DJ, dancing, games, giveaways and raffles, and a donation to Sharon's family. Does not include parking. Kids under 14 only. Option 3 is $45.
Option 4: Tailgate Only (Kids under 14)
Includes professionally catered tailgate, live DJ, dancing, games, giveaways and raffles, and a donation to Sharon's family. Does not include a game ticket or parking. Option 4 is $15.
**Please let us know if there is anyone specific you would like to sit near at the game. We will do our best to accommodate all requests. You do not need to order together... if you wait, you may miss out as tickets are hot and limited. **
We are also accepting cash donations - big and small – to help Sharon's family. If you would like to donate items for raffles or contribute to food/drink/logistics, please reach separately. We will also have sponsorship opportunities available (more info to come)!
