About this Event
Join us for a special Ohio Medal of Honor Recognition Breakfast as we honor the extraordinary courage, service, and sacrifice of the more than 322 Ohioans who have received our nation's highest military decoration, the Medal of Honor. This meaningful event serves as an opportunity to reflect on the heroic actions of these individuals and recognize the lasting impact their service has had on the freedoms we enjoy today.
The program is open to Veteran Employees, Veteran Students, Veteran Dependents, and all Columbus State staff members, providing a unique opportunity to come together in appreciation and remembrance of those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in service to our nation.
Guests will enjoy a breakfast buffet while participating in a memorable ceremony featuring the Posting of the Colors by a Color Guard, the Pledge of Allegiance, a Benediction, and a solemn KIA Remembrance honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Attendees will also gain a deeper understanding of the Medal of Honor and hear the inspiring story of Ohio Medal of Honor recipient Ron Rosser, whose bravery and legacy continue to serve as an example of courage and selfless service.
The event will feature keynote remarks from Matthew Zelnik, Lt Col (Ret) USAF, Interim Executive Director, Franklin County Veterans Services Commission, who will share perspectives on military service, leadership, and the importance of remembering and honoring our nation's heroes.
Throughout the breakfast, a slideshow showcasing Ohio's Medal of Honor recipients will be displayed, offering attendees the opportunity to learn more about the remarkable men and women whose actions exemplify valor, duty, and sacrifice.
Whether you have a personal connection to military service or simply wish to honor those who have served, this event offers a meaningful opportunity for reflection, education, and appreciation.
