Come and celebrate spring at the Sustainable Living Centre Takaka on Labour day, Monday 26th October 2026, from 12 to 8 pm.
This acoustic event goes back in time with roaming music, dance & theatre performances, storytelling, facepainting and old-time games. Be a part of weaving the Maypole ribbons into beautiful patterns by dancing around the pole to live music!
Fun family old fashion games are offered during the day like sack races, tug of war, egg ‘n’ spoon, carry your Mum etc, and in the crafts zone you can make your own flower crown. Local musicians, Saci & Hannah, Dan Antell, KiwiJam and Otere Gold will provide the afternoon’s entertainment, and the WaDaDa drum collective will finish the day with a drumming circle around the brazier.
Come and learn about Our Southern Wheel of the Year in an interactive afternoon workshop with Maniana Heywood. Learn about living in tune with nature’s cycles, the turning of the Seasons, Solstices, Equinoxes, Celtic cross-quarter festivals and Full Moon names specifically for the Southern Hemisphere.
Explore the art of seasonal living by creating your own annual traditions inspired by our ancestors and our local environment. Find ways to celebrate Beltane, the upcoming cross-quarter festival, and this Full Moon known as the Seed Moon in the Southern Hemisphere.
The SLC cafe will serve delicious seasonal food for lunch and dinner as well as homemade cakes and cold refreshing drinks, chai, coffee and teas. A fundraiser event not to be missed! Please join us for the Spring Merriment festival from 12pm-8pm at the Sustainable Living Centre, 24 Waitapu Road, Takaka.
