Port Townsend Jam 2026 December 16–20 | Fort Worden State Park, WAEarlybird Discount Registration - October 25th
Join dancers from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond for five days of movement, connection, and creative exploration at the annual Port Townsend Jam—a Contact Improvisation retreat held in the historic Fort Worden State Park. Nestled among ocean-view beaches, wooded trails, and abundant wildlife, this nature-infused gathering offers a restorative and inspiring setting for dancers of all levels.
Each day features a rich mix of participant-led labs, curated workshops, and open studio time. Some examples of curated labs include: The Blindfold Dance, The Underscore, CI Basics, The Inclusion Jam, Composition and Play, Barriers to Entry in CI, and Acrobatic Principles in Weight-Sharing, Authentic Movement, and others.
The studio is open every day for silent jamming and daytime access during labs. Evenings unfold into nightly jams, beginning with our Opening Jam on Wednesday, December 16 at 7:00 PM, with evening jams continuing nightly around 7:00 PM.
An optional pre-jam workshop, "Grounding the Dance: Foundations for Entering the Jam," led by Cyrus Khambatta, runs earlier the first day (Dec. 16) from 1:00–4:00 PM. This session offers fundamental tools for safe weight-sharing, balance, and fluid partnering, and can be added on via the main sign-up page.
Whether you're new to CI or a seasoned mover, there's space to learn, play, and grow.
