Real Talk: (Re)membering Whose We Are — An Intergenerational Conversation
The 2026 BlkEd Family Summit is bringing families, educators, youth, community organizations, Black-owned businesses, artists, and community leaders together for a day of learning, culture, wellness, connection, and joy.
This isn't your traditional conference. We're creating a Village.
Families will have opportunities to learn together, experience African and Black cultural traditions, engage in interactive workshops, connect with community resources, support Black-owned businesses, enjoy live performances, and participate in experiences designed for multiple generations.
Throughout the day, we'll explore what it means to Remember Whose We Are through story, legacy, community, creativity, wellness, movement, and collective joy.
What to Expect
• Remembering Through Story — storytelling, African folklore, oral traditions, literacy, and community memory
• Remembering Through Sankofa — interactive movement, rhythm, dance, and cultural traditions
• Remembering Through Legacy — celebrating the history and continued importance of HBCUs and Black educational traditions
• Remembering Through Community — strengthening relationships among families, children, educators, and schools
• Remembering Through Creativity — art, music, expression, and hands-on family experiences
• Remembering Through Wellness — mental health, wellness, movement, and family-centered activities
• The Village Center — our all-day gathering space featuring Black-owned businesses, community organizations, resources, giveaways, food, performances, and family activities
