This year’s speaker, Jeff M. Osweiler, is a U.S. Foreign Service Officer currently stationed in Bogotá, Colombia. Drawing on his diplomatic career across eight countries, Osweiler will share his experiences, offer an inside look at the work of the Foreign Service, and discuss why international awareness matters to all of us.
Originally from Ames, Iowa, Osweiler attended Loras College before graduating from the University of Iowa and earning his master’s degree in International Relations and Comparative Politics from McGill University. His assignments have taken him to Nigeria, Morocco, Madagascar, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tunisia, Canada, Jamaica, and Colombia.
Presented as part of the U.S. Department of State’s Hometown Diplomats Program, this lecture is an opportunity to explore the connections between our community and the world.
