The Johnston County Red, White & BOOM Celebration is in the works. Festivities will begin on the evening of Friday, July 2nd as we launch the first county-wide Simmons Bank Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest from 6-8 p.m. ending at just the right time to make it to Tishomingo for the Vulcan Materials Company Fireworks Show at dark (about 9:20 p.m. at the Tishomingo Football Field) followed by an old-school, red dirt country music street dance sponsored by Ole Red Tishomingo smack dab in the middle of town (between Kemp and Neshoba Streets) until midnight! We'll have the AmeriState Bank Independence Day Parade the morning of the 3rd with activities at Pennington Creek Park the old fashioned way! (Parade from Byrd to Capitol) Everything else will be at Pennington Creek Park. The Tishomingo Chevrolet Lifted Truck & Car Show will be going on, plus the first Kid's Powerwheel Races for kids age 3-7. There will be water slides, vendor booths, a dunk tank, food trucks, the Little Miss & Mr Firecracker Contest, a volleyball tournament sponsored by Texoma Labs, Inc., hot dog eating contest, the Sooner Foods watermelon eating contest, an apple pie baking contest and more! Fireworks at dusk with Ole Red Country Street Dance immediately following on Main Street until 12 a.m. (In the event of rain, the dance will be at The Doghouse at Ole Red)
