About this Event
Go beyond practising Yoga. Learn to understand it, live it and teach it.
Yogshala’s 200-Hour Classical Haṭha Yoga Teacher Training is an immersive, small-group program for students who want to explore Yoga beyond physical postures and develop the knowledge, practice and confidence required to teach.
September 1 – December 12, 2026 (each month new cohort and new admissions)
Fully in person · Montreal West
You do not need to arrive knowing that you want to become a yoga teacher.
Some students come because they want to teach. Others come because years of attending classes have left them wanting to understand why we practise what we practise.
This training is for both.
What makes this training different?
Rather than compressing 200 hours into a few intensive weeks, this program unfolds over several months.
You will have time to practise.
Time to study.
Time to question.
Time to teach.
And most importantly, time to integrate what you are learning into your own life and practice.
The training is rooted in Classical Haṭha Yoga and combines traditional teachings with the practical skills required to guide modern students safely and intelligently.

A Taste of India, Here in Montreal
This training is not meant to feel like sitting in a classroom for 200 hours and collecting information.
We want it to feel like a journey.
Throughout the training, we bring little pieces of the atmosphere we grew up learning Yoga around into Yogshala — the food, the conversations, the humour, the community, the philosophy, and the feeling of spending time together beyond the mat.
Some days we practise.
Some days we sit together and eat.
Some days we stay after class talking and laughing.
And sometimes we step outside the studio altogether — sharing meals, spending time together, exploring, and allowing the group to become a real community rather than simply a class.
There is something special about places like Rishikesh, where Yoga is not separated from daily life. Practice, philosophy, food, conversation, silence and friendship all exist together.
We cannot bring the Ganga or the Himalayas to Montreal.
But we try to bring a little of that spirit here.
A little less rushing in and out of class.
A little more sitting together.
A little more chai, food, laughter, questioning, practice and life.
Because some of the most meaningful parts of a teacher training happen between the scheduled hours.
