Connect to Protect is an international academic and institutional conference dedicated to advancing evidence-informed approaches to the protection, wellbeing, and rights of children and adolescents.
Convened in Athens, Greece, on 05–06 October, the conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, public authorities, and civil society actors to engage with pressing contemporary challenges in child and youth protection. Key thematic areas include violence prevention, social inclusion, digital safety, mental health promotion, and the development of coordinated safeguarding systems across sectors.
The programme will include keynote addresses and high-level expert discussions with internationally recognised representatives, including:
• Prof. Philip D. Jaffé, Professor Emeritus and Vice-Chair, UN Committee on the Rights of the Child
• Professor Dr. Vasiliki Artinopoulou, Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences; Director, Restorative Justice and Mediation Lab; Director, Institute on Crime and Criminal Justice, European Public Law Organization; Member of the United Nations Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT), Head of the European Region
• Richard Weissbourd, Senior Lecturer and Faculty Director, Making Caring Common, Harvard Graduate School of Education
• Prof. Jill Duerr Berrick, Distinguished Professor of Social Welfare, Zellerbach Family Professor, University of California, Berkeley
• Dr. Stefanos Alevizos, Psychologist and Postdoctoral Researcher, IASIS NGO; Research Associate, Restorative Justice and Mediation Lab, Panteion University
• Efthymis Antonopoulos, Policy & Advocacy Manager, Victim Support Europe (VSE)

Through interdisciplinary exchange and policy-oriented dialogue, Connect to Protect aims to strengthen prevention frameworks, promote effective practice, and contribute to sustainable responses at national, European, and global levels.
