Come and sing a few rounds next to our glorious, newly reopened Te Matapihi Central Library.Sunshine 🤞, singing 🎶, and books! 📚
Rounds in the Square meets at 1pm on the first Sunday of the month in Te Ngākau Civic Square.
There is no formal sign-up and is open to any who turn up on the day.
Participants learn together within a single session and no two sessions are the same. As well as engaging the singing voice, rounds are great entry-level practice for rhythm and for singing in harmony.
Ranging from whimsical to somber, to vocalese that requires no learning of lyrics at all - rounds contain multitudes!
We gather, usually in a circle, and each round is taught line by line. Once a round is securely learnt, the group is split into half/thirds/quarters to sing in canon.
The group that gathers on the day will influence how the session runs. Duration is typically 1 hour.
