About this Event
The "one-armed bandit M**der" sent shock waves through the North East, and as the first gangland killing of its kind - it sparked fears that organised crime had gained a foothold in the region.
The heavily publicised trial resulted in life sentences for Dennis Stafford and Michael Luvaglio. However, both men have always insisted on their innocence. Stafford claimed the M**der was committed by a Scottish gangster, while and Luvaglio pinned it on the Krays.
In fact, this M**der had such an impact, it is said it inspired cult movie Get Carter, which starred Michael Caine.
Schedule:

Attendance to these lectures is free but we encourage you to make a donation if you're able. Money raised will go towards future 17Nineteen Society events and to the Churches Conservation Trust towards the management and upkeep of Sunderland’s wonderful Georgian treasure.
