Our fall offering of Choral Masterworks will present two monuments of 20th century choral literature: Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols” and Randall Thompson’s “Testament of Freedom.” Both were composed in 1942 as WWII ravaged the planet. Bob Mensel will conduct the Britten (in its original SSA configuration) which will be accompanied by Doug Rioth, harpist with the San Francisco Symphony. We welcome Evan Miles, the new Artistic Director of Modern Men, to conduct the Thompson (in its original TTBB configuration) with Kurt Jordan at the piano. All singers will combine for an encore.
These concerts feature professional and avocational singers across the Coachella Valley and beyond who come together on one day of group rehearsal to perform these timeless masterworks. While not a ticketed event, donations will be gratefully accepted which enable future performances.
