Join the 51st Street Business Association’s Brown Derby Jazz Series, in partnership with Little Black Pearl for a vibrant Neighborhood Jazz Night celebrating the 15th Annual International Jazz Day. This special evening is part of Chicago’s citywide celebration of jazz, honoring the genre’s powerful legacy and its ability to bring communities together through music and culture. Chicago—recognized globally as the host city for International Jazz Day 2026—will feature concerts and events across neighborhoods highlighting the city’s deep jazz heritage.
Held at Little Black Pearl Art & Design Center, this installment of the Brown Derby Jazz Series will feature the acclaimed pianist Theodis Rodgers Jr. Quartet, featuring an exceptional lineup including Charles “Rick” Heath IV, James Perkins, and Runeer Brooks. Rodgers’ repertoire will include a tribute to Chicago’s world renown jazz pianists Ramsey Lewis and Herbie Hancock. The evening will also feature special guest appearances by trumpeter Mario Abney, vocalist Nanette Frank, and the dynamic 2 Brown Sisters: Maggie and Africa Brown, will be kicking-off a Centennial Celebration of their iconic father, Oscar Brown, Jr. —promising a vibrant and unforgettable celebration of jazz artistry.
