INVITATION TO THE OXFORD BROOKES BUSINESS SCHOOL 14TH HRM RESEARCH AND ALUMNI CONFERENCE
We are delighted to invite you to the 14th OBBS HRM Research and Alumni Conference, hosted on campus at Oxford Brookes Business School on Saturday 7 November 2026 (10:00 AM – 3:30 PM).
Conference Overview
This conference explores the complex relationship between Human Resource Management and social justice in the workplace. While HR has the potential to drive fairness, inclusion, and equality, organisational policies and structures can also reinforce inequalities or create resistance to change. The conference will examine these ongoing challenges alongside pressing modern issues, including environmental sustainability and workplace artificial intelligence.
The programme features two academic keynotes, presentations from current postgraduate HRM students showcasing findings from their dissertation research, and a panel discussion involving participants from academia, industry, and HR practitioners sharing how these issues play out on the ground.
The event is designed for students looking to engage with contemporary HR debates, as well as practitioners, alumni, and academics wanting to reconnect and build connections across the broader HRM community.
Keynote Addresses
Keynote 1 with Prof. Mustafa Özbilgin: "Just Transitions: Human, Ecological and Technological Capabilities for Social Justice"
This keynote draws on recent research to explore HR justice capability and conversion, examining how these can build and sustain fairer relationships between people, nature, and technology.
Keynote 2 with Dr. Penelope Muzanenhamo: "HRM and Epistemic (in)justice in the Era of AI?"
This talk examines how modern HR practices ought to actively promote epistemic justice, ensuring people's knowledge and experiences are valued fairly rather than being dismissed due to identity biases or automated tools.
