CHECK-IN & ARRIVAL
When you arrive, head to the group check-in area and look for our orange Tango Charities signs! Please allow extra time for parking and walking to the meeting area.
HOW IT WORKS
After checking in with our group, volunteers will receive delivery assignments and maps with addresses for families in the community.
Once assignments are distributed, you'll return to your vehicle and enter the designated Volunteer Line to pick up your Thanksgiving meals and turkeys. From there, you'll head out to make your deliveries!
A few things to keep in mind:
- Bring your vehicle: You'll use your own car to make deliveries. Please clear space in your trunk or back seat for meal boxes and frozen turkeys.
- Plan for your vehicle's capacity: Consider how many boxes your vehicle can safely accommodate.
- Be prepared to walk: Some deliveries are to apartment complexes and may require climbing stairs.
- Volunteer with family or friends: You're welcome to make deliveries together.
- Flexible participation: Stay and help for as long as your schedule allows.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY VOLUNTEERING
This is a wonderful opportunity to serve together as a family! Children are welcome to participate alongside their parents or guardians. Please consider your child's age and ability to help with deliveries, including carrying items and navigating apartment complexes.
DONATIONS & ADDITIONAL ITEMS
Mission Arlington will have Thanksgiving meals prepared and boxed in advance, so volunteers do not need to bring food donations.
If you'd like to include additional items such as bottled water, fruit, or desserts with your deliveries, please keep those items in your vehicle and add them when you reach the delivery location. This helps keep the meal pickup line moving efficiently.
ADDITIONAL REMINDERS
- Coffee & hot chocolate: We'll have complimentary coffee and hot chocolate available for our volunteers while supplies last!
- Rain or shine: Thanksgiving deliveries will take place regardless of weather.
- Dress comfortably: Wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.
- Follow event directions: Mission Arlington may close nearby streets to accommodate the volunteer pickup line. Follow signs and volunteer instructions upon arrival.
We look forward to serving alongside you and helping make Thanksgiving special for families throughout our community!
