We'd love to see you at our October meeting in the upstairs Banquet Hall of the Old Bag of Nails in Hilliard on Oct. 13! Katie Johnstone will be our speaker. Grab some food and socialize as early as 6 p.m. Katie's presentation starts at 7 p.m.Every 13 or 17 years, millions of black-and-orange bugs emerge from the depths of the ground. These large winged, big red eye insects are called periodical cicadas. They are very noisy and overtake the local area where they emerge. To most people, they are a nuisance. To an angler, their emergence is the start of an epic month of dry fly fishing for a variety of species.
The next brood, XXII, will emerge during the summer of 2027 in parts of Ohio, and now is the time to plan! During this presentation, Katie will provide a background on cicadas and Brood XXII. She will discuss how to plan a trip to fish this brood, which species to target, fish behavior, and the gear you'll need. She will also share data from her experiences fishing other broods.
