Join a high-speed animation relay at Moleskine’s Creative Flagship Store in Battersea Power Station. Handmade Cinema is a residency for eight creators that bridges analog craft and digital production. Guided by the philosophy of The Legendary Notebook, you will master the fundamentals of the "Exquisite Corpse" animation process.

The challenge: 15 minutes to hand-draw 12 frames, continuing the movement from the artist before you. No thinking. Just making. Froghug Films then digitizes and masters these raw sketches into a 4K short film. Every participant earns an IMDb credit on the project, and the final film enters the Public Domain.

This is just the first of six; each session will build off the sesson before and at the end, we will have a fully built, human-led, handmade film.

We'll go through the twelve basic principles of animation over the course of the next year, as well as the history. We'll discuss the value of sound and how sound helps bring life to the film. But mostly, we'll just have fun and doodle and make an abstract cartoon.
