Mentor Theatre proudly kicks off its landmark 103rd season with Reginald Rose’s classic drama 12 Angry Jurors. For this production, adapted by Sherman L. Sergel, the stage is transforming into an immersive black box theatre, placing the audience on stage surrounding the action to put them right in the middle of the tense jury room deliberations.
In this unique format, patrons will step into the heart of the drama from the moment they arrive. All audience members will enter the stage through the back hallway of the Fine Arts Center, bypassing the traditional auditorium seating for an up-close view of twelve jury members wrestling with a life-or-death verdict.
Because seating on stage is strictly limited to maintain the intimacy of the black box setup, Mentor Theatre has added two additional performances to ensure patrons have ample opportunity to experience this compelling production. The production will have the following performance schedule: Thursday, November 5th and Friday, November 6th at 7 p.m.; Saturday, November 7th at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, November 8th at 2 p.m.
All tickets are $12 and performances are expected to sell out.
"Staging 12 Angry Jurors in a black box format allows us to heighten the claustrophobia and emotional tension inherent in the play," says director Mr. John Greene. "The audience isn't just watching a story unfold from a distance. They are sitting alongside the jury, feeling every moment of hesitation, conflict, and persuasion."
