Join us as research and advocacy team up to host the 11 Annual International Conference on Bartonella as an Emerging Pathogen (ICBEP). This meeting will take place at the Bioinnovation Center in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana.Bartonelloses are an underappreciated, underfunded, underdiagnosed, and undertreated collection of diseases caused by infection with Bartonella species bacteria. Clinical signs and symptoms of bartonellosis range from localized lymph node swelling and fever, to severe manifestations such as endocarditis, liver failure, and neurological problems, among others. The variability and unpredictability of the disease requires more research on pathogenesis, human and animal cases, diagnostics, prevention, and treatment.
This biennial symposium provides a venue for a group of leading experts to discuss their cutting-edge research on the impact of Bartonella across the globe and how to effectively diagnose and treat the disease in both humans and animals. Past meetings have fostered cross-country collaborations and inspired the next generation of scientists to explore new possibilities for effective countermeasures against Bartonella species. This symposium will feature four days of scientific panels and talks, networking and collaboration, and a dive into New Orleans culture.
