Born from deep loss and transformed into communal resilience, Death Faire has become an extraordinary annual event where people from all walks of life come together to embrace what our society so often avoids: death. Rooted in the principles of death positivity, Death Faire is more than an event—it is part of a growing cultural shift in America that challenges old norms and nurtures a more compassionate way of being, inviting us to live more fully by speaking openly about death.
Since its inception in 2016 in Pittsboro, North Carolina, Death Faire has grown in countless beautiful ways—not only in size, but in the rich tapestry of shared wisdom, music, art, nature, and creative expression that witnesses loss and grief, honors ancestors, and celebrates the resilience of the human spirit. It is a place where healing meets creativity, questions are welcomed, and diverse traditions and perspectives are celebrated. Come curious. Leave changed.
