100 Years of Television: The Revolution will be Televised!
Television is undoubtedly one of the most radical innovations in 20th century media, redefining our relationship with the world in unprecedented ways. On the 100th anniversary from John Logie Baird’s demonstration of the first public television broadcast, we explore the remarkable journey of a technology that transformed communication, culture, and entertainment, from its earliest experiments to today's digital and streaming era.
This talk will reflect on television's enduring impact and consider its place in an ever-evolving media landscape. During this lecture, particular attention is given to the early years of broadcasting and its early social, cultural, and political impact, including its impact in Malta. The audience will discuss how times have changed over the past century, through reflections on the different ways we interact with television now.
