About this Event

Make visible the invisible movement of life. Rendre visible l’invisible mouvement du vivant.

Rendre visible l’invisible mouvement du vivant.
1 Drop 1000 Years is an immersive performance by Martin Messier inspired by the major ocean currents that regulate the planet’s climate. Based on real scientific data, fifteen kinetic sculptures transform the movements of water into an all-encompassing visual and sound experience. Between art, science and technology, the work highlights the essential role of water in the balance of life and the fragility of this ecosystem in the face of climate change. A captivating sensory experience that invites us to rethink our connection with the planet.

30 MINUTES PERFORMANCE + 15 MINUTES MEET THE ARTIST

Martin Messier

For over fifteen years, Martin Messier has been creating works that combine sound art, light, robotics and video. In the form of performances and installations, his creations bring the presence of the body to the fore. After studying composition at the Université de Montréal, he turned to an experimental sound practice that integrates the video image. He soon began creating performative audiovisual devices that call into question everyday objects and the sound potential of materials. His productions have been presented in some fifty countries and have earned him numerous awards and nominations, including the World OMOSIROI Award in Japan in 2018 and, in 2021, 2nd prize at the Athens Digital Arts Festival.
