We have something special planned for next month! In June we will create a series of mini-theme classes in level 3.What do you do at a party where the DJ starts playing progressively more unfamiliar styles of jazz?
In classes we usually focus on dancing Lindy Hop to 30s big band swing style music, but when we go out we might get to hear other jazz influences ranging from Blues to Bebop.
Throughout June, our Level 3 classes will explore how our existing Lindy Hop toolkit can adapt to different jazz and groove traditions — expanding musicality, play and connection along the way.
Each week we’ll focus on a different musical world:
💃 8 June — Latin
🎤 15 June — R&B
🎺 22 June — Bebop
🌙 29 June — Slow Lindy / Blues
A quick clarification: This is NOT a month about “learning Latin dancing,” “learning Blues,” or dancing authentic Bebop/R&B styles specifically.
Instead, we’ll focus on how to use concepts and movement qualities we already know in new musical contexts.
Every class will explore:
✨ groove and rhythm
✨ energy and dynamics
✨ connection and responsiveness
✨ shapes, textures, and rhythmic variation
✨ building a stronger and more adaptable foundation
One of the beautiful things about this kind of training is that it makes you a more versatile and musical social dancer — especially during parties and festivals where DJs play a much wider range of music.
Open to dancers with enough Level 2 experience and above.
