🚀 GLOBAL UNDERSCORE Dancing the Underscore simultaneously around the globe 🚀
For the last 26 years, Contact Improvisation practitioners have met around summer solstice with the desire to connect, dance, and compose together simultaneously through this practice.
The Underscore was initiated by Nancy Stark Smith and her study group, and has evolved since 1990 with the aim of opening Contact Improvisation into the broader arena of improvisational dance practice. This year we will offer the Global Underscore at Tanzfabrik Berlin in a modified shorter version.
The practice includes a preparation talk:
In an interactive and playful way, we will discover and revisit the phases and aspects of this score. This information will inform and enrich the actual practice, creating a common language and frame to play with. If you are new to the Underscore, attending the talk-trough is mandatory. If you know the Underscore - we warmly encourage you to attend the talk-through, as well. We'd love to have your experience & contribution in the space!

After the Underscore, there will be an optional potluck in the studio, for those who want to stay. Please bring some food to share.
Usually, Contact Improvisation Classes and Silent Jams take place on alternating Saturdays at Tanzfabrik. The Global Underscore will take place instead of the Silent Jam on June 20. The Global Underscore happens in agreement with the Silent Jam - Team: Adalisa Menghini, Jorge de Hoyos, Ka Rustler & Susanne Martin. Thanks for the collaboration!
