Sun of Africa (SOA) Drum and Dance Ensemble is an Adelaide - South Australia based company passionately dedicated to the art of African dance, rhythm, music,drumming and performances from West Africa (CÔTE D’IVOIRE) through creating and facilitating colourful and artistic performances.
Having been established in Adelaide in 2011, Sun of Africa has had regular performances as well as a one-off performance at the State's Multicultural Awards ceremony, Guerrilla Art Event, The Adelaide Fringe, Womadelaide, the Come Out Festival, the African Cultural Festival, the AFRICOM SA award ceremony at the Adelaide Convention centre as well as functions at the Adelaide Zoo and a concert at Her Majesty's Theatre.

Join our Zaouli Mask Dance workshop by Van Marc for a fun, energetic experience! Sweat it out with vibrant footwork and expressive moves, all while also enjoying and learning traditional drums and exploring Guro culture.
The Zaouli mask dance is a traditional dance form originating from the Guro people of the Ivory Coast in West Africa. It's performed by dancers wearing elaborately carved wooden masks depicting the face of a beautiful woman, called " Djela Lou Zaouli." The dance is characterised by its intricate footwork, rapid movements and expressive gestures, often accompanied by drumming and other traditional instruments.
