About this Event
In this panel discussion, we will welcome three of our Social and Public Policy graduates and hear about their career journeys from the classroom to their current role. Each of our alumni will describe the key stepping stones in their career, and the skills and learning they acquired during their undergraduate degree in SPS. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions of each guest, finding out more about the opportunities and challenges they have encountered.
A drinks reception will take place in the Atrium of the Wolfson Medical Building after the panel event and all attendees are invited to join us.
Panellists:
Ilana Booth
Having completed an undergraduate degree in Politics and Social & Public Policy in 2023 and a Masters degree in Global Health in 2024, Ilana is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health. Her PhD uses systems science methods to highlight the health experiences of multiple disadvantaged women in Scotland and explores potential policy action. Specifically, her research focuses on how childhood deprivation and adversity impacts women's health across the life course, with a focus on low income and traumatic experiences. Ilana has also taught for the University of Glasgow's widening participation team since 2023, improving access to higher education for disadvantaged secondary school pupils in Scotland.
Aileen Stewart
Aileen completed her undergraduate degree in Social & Public Policy and Spanish, graduating from the University of Glasgow in 2024. Whilst undertaking her studies she volunteered with Alzheimer Scotland as a Therapeutic Activity Volunteer and went on to research the impact of Post-Diagnostic Dementia Support in Scotland through her undergraduate dissertation. She now works as a Dementia Link Worker within an NHS Older Adults Community Mental Health Team, delivering personalised care to support patients and their families to come to terms with and live well with dementia. Under her locality’s Health and Social Care Partnership, Aileen works in collaboration with a variety of health and social care professionals, delivering a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Elle Tashdjian
Elle graduated from her Social & Public Policy undergraduate degree in 2023 and then completed a Masters degree in Global Health in 2024, both at the University of Glasgow. She works as a Development Officer at The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (The ALLIANCE), the third sector intermediary for health and social care in Scotland.
