About this Event

Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to West Burton Energy, offering a unique opportunity to explore a modern power generation facility and gain insight into the realities of managing health and safety in a high-risk environment.

The visit will begin with a classroom-style session led by the site’s HSE Manager and Station Director, providing an overview of West Burton Energy, its operations, and the key risks associated with running a contemporary power plant. This will be followed by a guided tour of the site, where you’ll see these principles in action and deepen your understanding of how safety is managed on the ground.

This is a fantastic opportunity to:

  • Learn directly from senior leaders responsible for safety and operations
  • Explore real-world applications of health and safety practices
  • Gain insight into the risks and controls within a modern energy facility
  • Network with fellow professionals in a unique setting

Important information for attendees:

  • The site tour will involve climbing stairs with open floor grating; attendees should be comfortable with heights.
  • Attendees are required to provide a copy of their driving licence in advance for security clearance (all information will be handled in line with GDPR).
  • PPE can be provided; however, attendees are welcome to bring their own.
  • Random drugs and alcohol testing is conducted on site; attendees may be selected for testing.
  • Photography is not permitted on site. Official group photos will be taken and shared after the event.
  • The site includes EMF zones. If you have any medical implants (e.g. cochlear implants), please inform the organisers on the day.
  • Vehicle registration, make and model will be required in advance to arrange site access.
  • Lunch will be provided in the form of a buffet, with vegetarian options available.
  • A detailed site information leaflet will be shared with attendees ahead of the visit.

Minimum PPE requirements (if bringing your own):

  • Safety helmet
  • Hearing protection (minimum SNR28)
  • Gloves
  • Safety boots (S3 equivalent)
  • High-visibility jacket or vest (not required if wearing overalls with high-visibility banding)
  • Eye protection
  • Overalls (required in plant-based locations)

Please note:

  • Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended.
  • After registering, your name, photograph of your ID, number plate, car make and model will be shared with West Burton Energy Plant for security purposes. All details will be handled in accordance with GDPR.
