Join our expert panel to discuss how the Iran war could reshape China’s energy strategy, hosted by YCW London and the SOAS China Institute.
About this Event

YCW London and the SOAS China Institute invite you to a panel discussion examining how the Iran war could reshape China’s energy strategy and clean technology ambitions.

As the world’s largest energy importer and a dominant player in clean technology manufacturing, China has long prioritised energy security. Is rising geopolitical risk accelerating Beijing’s push toward renewable energy and energy independence?

Bringing together leading experts in energy, climate, and China policy, the discussion will explore the implications of the conflict for China’s future energy demand, energy security strategy, and broader geopolitical positioning relative to the United States.

Panelists:

  • Geoffroy Dolphin, Head of Climate Research at Oxford Economics
  • Anders Hove, Senior Research Fellow, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies
  • Anika Patel, China Editor, Carbon Brief
