About this Event
The Department of Performing Arts will be hosting a one-week music workshop for the musical Ybor City (book writer Anita Gonzalez, composer Dan Furman) with director Maija Garcia and musical director Gerardo Contino, the week of January 12-17th.
Set in 1918 Tampa, Ybor City is a musical journey of music, movement, and migration. As racial divisions threaten two immigrant communities, song and solidarity become their path to survival. There will be a sharing for the Georgetown community on Friday, January 16th, at 4 pm, and a public sharing followed by a concert with a hot Cuban band on Saturday, January 17th, at 2 pm.
