About the Director Areeb Zuaiter / LAU grad' 2003
Areeb Zuaiter is a multinational filmmaker based in Washington, D.C., whose work explores art, identity, and social issues. Her debut feature documentary, Yalla Parkour, premiered at DOC NYC, winning the International Competition Grand Jury Prize, and went on to tour major international festivals, including the Berlin International Film Festival (Panorama), where it received the Second Place Audience Award for Best Documentary, alongside multiple honours throughout its global festival run.
Zuaiter’s short Stained won the Jury Award at the Beirut European International Film Festival, while Colors of Resistance earned awards at the Colorado Activism Film Festival and the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards. Her latest short, One Last Wish, was nominated at the Cairo International Film Festival.
Zuaiter has also worked with the Associated Press, held a fellowship at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History supported by Goldman Sachs, led training at the Royal Film Commission - Jordan, and headed programming at the Amman International Film Festival.
