Chilean guest composer Esteban Ignacio Correa and bassist Manuel Figueroa-Bolvarán — the creative forces behind Ensamble Improvincia — present a riveting program for instruments and electronics at The Betsy South Beach Hotel Gallery.
Correa, an established concert composer with a catalog of nearly 50 works spanning orchestral, chamber, solo, and theatrical music performed across Chile and internationally, brings expressive depth and inventive sound design to this evening’s performance. His music has been commissioned and presented by leading ensembles throughout Latin America.
Figueroa-Bolvarán, a Chilean double bass virtuoso, composer, and educator, is known for his commanding stage presence and versatility across genres. He has premiered concertos and chamber works worldwide, performed with renowned ensembles including the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Orchestra of the Americas, and appeared on award-winning recordings.
As Ensamble Improvincia, the duo explores the intersection of acoustic instruments and live electronics, offering an immersive concert experience shaped by adventurous performance, inventive sound worlds, and cross-cultural perspectives.
The festival is presented by the FIU Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts, with support from the City of Miami Beach, the Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center at Florida International University, FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios, and The Betsy South Beach Hotel and The Betsy Writers Room. The Avalon Hotel Miami Beach on Ocean Drive is the official host hotel for the festival.
