2026 rok to nowy 2016. A przynajmniej tak mówią. Przez ostatnią dekadę przemierzaliśmy ulice Warszawy, by dotrzeć do Pałacu Kultury na imprezę otwarcia Millennium Docs Against Gravity. Tym razem cofniemy się w czasie o te 10 lat, by sprawdzić, jakie muzyczne odkrycia nas ukształtowały. Wrócimy do dźwięków, które były także ścieżką dźwiękową naszego festiwalu. Może dla Ciebie to „Paper Planes” M.I.A., a może maj jest nierozerwalnie związany z „Give It Up” Princess Shaw, znanym ze zwiastuna MDAG?
W 2016 roku film „Wszystkie nieprzespane noce” miał premierę na Sundance, gdzie Michał Marczak otrzymał nagrodę za reżyserię. Ten film zobaczycie na festiwalu w ramach sekcji The Best of MDAG. W 2026 roku. Marczak powrócił na Sundance z nowym filmem „Bez końca”, który zobaczycie w Konkursie Głównym Millennium Docs Against Gravity.
Impreza odbywa się równolegle w Kulturalnej i barStudio.
W Kulturalnej zabierzemy Was w muzyczną podróż od 2016 do 2026 roku, a barStudio zamieni się w kapsułę czasu, w której zatrzymaliśmy się w 2016. Imprezie będzie towarzyszył pokaz zdjęć redaktora naczelnego magazynu „K MAG” – Mikołaja Komara, które powstały w ramach cyklu „Okiem Komara”
w 2016 roku.
Dodatkowo w Kulturalnej wystąpi Dana Vitkovska, czyli jedna z bohaterek filmu „Ciało wojny" Małgorzaty Szumowskiej i Michała Englerta przy współpracy reżyserskiej Dawida Nickela, który tego dnia będzie miał premierę na festiwalu. Dana to ukraińska transpłciowa, queerowa artystka multidyscyplinarna oraz jedna z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych postaci ballroomowej sceny Europy Wschodniej. Voguerka z ponad 10-letnim doświadczeniem, Matka polskiego chapteru międzynarodowego House of Elle. Mieszka w Warszawie, gdzie aktywnie rozwija kulturę ballroom, organizując bale i prowadząc zajęcia. Równolegle pracuje jako tancerka, choreografka, movement directorka i dziennikarka.

All These Sleepless Nights. The opening party of MDAG 2026
2026 is the new 2016. Or so they say. For this past decade we have been wandering the streets of Warsaw to arrive at the Palace of Culture for the opening party of Millennium Docs Against Gravity. We will time travel through these 10 years to see what music revelations have defined us, with an abundance of melodic references to what has also been the soundtrack of our festival. Maybe for you it will be Paper Planes by M.I.A or maybe May is inseparable from the sound of Give It Up by Princess Shaw, as heard in the trailer of our festival?
2016 saw the premier of the film “All These Sleepless Nights” at Sundance, where Michał Marczak won the Directing Award. This film will be screened at the festival in The Best of MDAG section. In 2026 Marczak returned to Sundance with his new film “Closure”, which will screen in the Main Competition at Millennium Docs Against Gravity.
The party is held simultaneously in Kulturalna and barStudio. In Kulturalna we will take you on a musical journey from 2016 up till 2026 and barStudio will become a time capsule, where time stood still and we live in 2016. The event will be accompanied by a photo showcase by “K MAG” editor-in-chief Mikołaj Komar, created as part of his series “Komar’s Eye” in 2016.
Additionally, Dana Vitkovska - one of the protagonists of "Bodies (of War)", directed by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert in collaboration with Dawid Nickel, which premieres at the festival that day - will perform at Kulturalna. Dana is a Ukrainian trans, queer multidisciplinary artist and one of the most recognisable figures of the Eastern European ballroom scene. A voguer with over a decade of experience, she is the Mother of the Polish chapter of the international House of Elle. Based in Warsaw, she contributes to the development of ballroom culture by organising balls and leading workshops. Alongside this, she works as a dancer, choreographer, movement director, and journalist.
