About this Event
Part of the London Festival of Architecture, June 2026. https://www.londonfestivalofarchitecture.org/event/writing-to-make-sense-of-the-city

We will embark on an object-led journey guided by pocket parks in the City of London, including St Dunstan in the East. We will search for interesting, curious, or unusual objects around our environment, and how they sit within the city, documenting them through photography on our 30-minute walk.
The second part of the workshop will bring us to the Artizan Street Library, where we will compile and make sense of these objects. The hour-long workshop begins with a short talk and a series of guided and exploratory writing and making exercises, and ends with collective discussion.
Through writing with and about the city, we will collectively and individually engage with different or alternate ways we can understand, make sense of, and belong to the city. This workshop is an invitation for you — whether you work within or are enthusiastic about the built environment, writing, walking, observing, or all of the above — to explore this year’s theme of Belonging by crafting and discovering your personal narrative alongside the city.
